Trangis — Spiral Dash Round Wool Rug in Navy & Cream

Trangis is built from a single mark repeated thousands of times. Short navy dashes ring outward from a small cream eye set just off centre, each ring slightly wider than the last, until they reach the edge of the circle.

Two colours, no repeating motif, and nothing else — a hand-tufted round rug that is quiet from across the room and completely absorbing up close.

Only two colours, which is why the rug sits comfortably in almost any room. The navy is dark enough to anchor a pale space without introducing a colour you have to work around.

Hand Tufted in Bhadohi, India

Every Trangis rug is handcrafted in our own workshop in Bhadohi, in the heart of India's carpet belt. Artisans hand-tuft 100% New Zealand wool into a cotton canvas backing using a hand-held tufting gun, then carve each dash individually.

No two dashes are identical. They lean, thicken and taper the way brushstrokes do, and that irregularity is deliberate — it is what keeps a repeating pattern from looking mechanical. Because the eye sits off centre, the rings are not true circles either; they stretch on one side and compress on the other, giving the surface a slow drift.

Spacing is the entire design here. Too tight and the rings merge into solid bands; too loose and the spiral falls apart. With two colours and no pattern to hide behind, every mark has to be right.

Seven round diameters: 3 Feet, 4 Feet, 5 Feet, 6 Feet, 8 Feet, 10 Feet and 12 Feet.

• 8 ft — the most popular living room size; front legs of the sofa sit on the rug

The spiral fills the circle evenly, so Trangis works at every size without anything important disappearing under furniture.

Styling Notes

Two colours make this one of the easiest rugs in the collection to live with. It suits Scandinavian, Japandi, coastal and minimalist rooms, and works with oak, rattan, linen and white-painted walls as naturally as with navy upholstery and brass. In a child's room or a nursery it reads as playful rather than formal. If your room already has colour, Trangis will sit underneath it without competing.

Care Instructions

• Dry clean only — do not machine wash, soak or steam clean
• Vacuum regularly without a beater bar; use suction only on cut pile
• Blot spills immediately with a clean dry cloth — never rub; act fast on the cream ground
• Easy to clean: the dense wool pile releases dust and dirt with routine vacuuming
• Shedding is normal on a new wool rug for the first few weeks and settles with vacuuming
• Trim any sprouting tufts with scissors — never pull them
• Rotate every 6 months for even wear and consistent light exposure
• Use an anti-slip rug pad underneath to stop movement and extend the life of the pile
• Keep out of prolonged direct sunlight to prevent fading
• Air the rug outdoors in shade occasionally to refresh the wool
