About the Agate

White agate is the least colored of the family, a stone of cream, chalk and clear gray bands with the occasional crystal pocket at the center. What it gives up in color it makes back in pattern, since the banding shows clearly against the pale ground.

It is translucent at the edges and picks up whatever is around it, which makes it easy to live with on painted, marble or light wood fronts.

How It’s Made

Each handle is cut and drilled by hand from a single slice of white agate, then mounted on brass hardware as a slim vertical bar. The edge is electroformed, real metal grown onto the stone and permanently bonded rather than a leaf or coating that rubs off, and it can be finished in gold, silver or rose gold. Hand drilling is why the hole positions are not identical from one handle to the next.

Fit and Installation

Four handles cover a run of cupboard doors or a bank of drawers. The screws are 5.08 cm (2") and sit 4" (10cm) apart. Tighten both by hand and check them again after a few weeks, since a handle in daily use will settle.
