This quartz reads lavender to periwinkle rather than pink, clouded through with white. Each handle is held in a metal band whose inner edge is cut in a row of scallops where it grips the stone, and that band is the same on every piece.

Using It

Put them out beside a cheese board: the wide flat blade cuts and lifts, the rounded one spreads, and the fork picks up the hard pieces. The steel is made for food; the handle is not, so keep it out of a long soak and do not leave food resting against it. Wash by hand and dry straight after. Never the dishwasher.
