Large Brown Agate Cheese Platter/Tray 10"x15"

A long serving board at 10"x15", its face built from large angular pieces of brown agate fitted together, with a thick metal edge round the outside.

The pieces are big, a few to a board, and each carries a striped grain that runs like wood, so the directions cut across one another where they meet. The joins between them are dark and easy to see. Tones run from pale sand to a dark walnut brown.

Using It

Cheese and crackers, charcuterie, fruit, chocolate. Stone stays cool, which helps a soft cheese hold its shape on a warm afternoon. Cut on a separate board rather than on the stone, so a knife does not leave a line in the polish. Wipe with a damp cloth and dry it. Never the dishwasher. The metal edge will not wear through at the corners the way a plated finish does.
