Zestnik is a meadow in the flat, cheerful style of 1970s textiles. Dozens of cut-out flowers cover the whole circle — big burnt orange and maroon daisies with black and cream centres, blush pink star-shaped blooms, olive and sage leaves, and small flowers in lilac, dusty rose, slate blue and chartreuse — with tiny black stars and dots filling the spaces between.

There is no centre and no border; the pattern simply runs to the edge, as if the circle had been cut from a much larger field of flowers. A hand-tufted round rug that brings instant warmth and good humour to a room.

Hand Tufted in Bhadohi, India

Every Zestnik rug is handcrafted in our own workshop in Bhadohi, in the heart of India's carpet belt. Artisans hand-tuft 100% New Zealand wool into a cotton canvas backing, to a dense 4000 GSM, then hand-carve every outline.

More than ten colours sit side by side here in small, closely packed shapes, which makes this one of the more intricate rugs in the collection to tuft. Every petal, leaf and dot has its own clean edge against the cream ground, and the tiny black stars and centres need a very steady hand to keep crisp.

New Zealand wool is used for a reason — it is naturally springy, stain-resistant, flame-resistant and holds dye brilliantly, which keeps so many colours clear and distinct at close quarters.

Seven round diameters: 3 Feet, 4 Feet, 5 Feet, 6 Feet, 8 Feet, 10 Feet and 12 Feet.

The all-over pattern has no focal point and no top or bottom, so Zestnik looks right from every direction and loses nothing under furniture.

Zestnik suits rooms with a relaxed, happy character — a nursery, a child's bedroom, a sunny kitchen or a retro-inspired living room. It pairs naturally with rattan, cane, light oak and painted furniture, with mustard, rust or blush upholstery, and with vintage finds. The busy pattern is also forgiving of everyday wear, making it a practical choice for family spaces. Suits retro, cottagecore and eclectic interiors.

Care Instructions

• Dry clean only — do not machine wash, soak or steam clean
• Vacuum regularly without a beater bar; use suction only on cut pile
• Blot spills immediately with a clean dry cloth — never rub
• Easy to clean: the dense wool pile releases dust and dirt with routine vacuuming
• Shedding is normal on a new wool rug for the first few weeks and settles with vacuuming
• Trim any sprouting tufts with scissors — never pull them
• Rotate every 6 months for even wear and consistent light exposure
• Use an anti-slip rug pad underneath to stop movement and extend the life of the pile
• Keep out of prolonged direct sunlight to prevent fading on the pinks and oranges
• Air the rug outdoors in shade occasionally to refresh the wool
