Dreama — Checkerboard Collage Round Wool Rug in Navy, Cobalt & Grey

Dreama is a collage of four textures laid over a midnight navy ground. A diagonal checkerboard band in black, grey, ivory and cobalt crosses the upper half. Beside it sits a panel of charcoal and grey stripes with a pale grey block. Below, a periwinkle lattice spreads like coral, and across the lower left a scatter of cobalt flecks drifts like confetti.

Each area has its own rhythm — the regular grid of the checks, the long pull of the stripes, the organic mesh of the lattice, the random scatter of the flecks — and the single blue family ties them into one composition. A hand-tufted round rug that rewards a closer look.

Hand Tufted in Bhadohi, India

Every Dreama rug is handcrafted in our own workshop in Bhadohi, in the heart of India's carpet belt. Artisans hand-tuft 100% New Zealand wool into a cotton canvas backing, to a dense 4000 GSM.

Holding four different textures in one rug is what makes it demanding to tuft. The checks need crisp square corners, the stripes need clean parallel edges, and the lattice needs a looser, more organic hand — all set against the same dark ground, where any wobble shows.

New Zealand wool is used for a reason — it is naturally springy, stain-resistant, flame-resistant and holds dye brilliantly, which keeps the cobalt bright against midnight navy.

Seven round diameters: 3 Feet, 4 Feet, 5 Feet, 6 Feet, 8 Feet, 10 Feet and 12 Feet.

• 8 ft — the most popular living room size; front legs of the sofa sit on the rug
• 10–12 ft — large open-plan living rooms and round dining tables, with chairs staying on the rug when pulled out

The checkerboard band is the strongest element, so orient the rug with it facing into the room rather than under a sofa.

Styling Notes

Dreama is a moody, layered rug that suits a home office, a study, a bedroom or a navy-and-grey living room. It pairs well with dark timber, black metal, grey or navy upholstery and brass accents, and brings pattern to a room without introducing a new colour family. The dark ground is also forgiving of everyday wear. Suits contemporary, eclectic and modern interiors.

Care Instructions

• Dry clean only — do not machine wash, soak or steam clean
• Vacuum regularly without a beater bar; use suction only on cut pile
• Blot spills immediately with a clean dry cloth — never rub
• Easy to clean: the dense wool pile releases dust and dirt with routine vacuuming
• Shedding is normal on a new wool rug for the first few weeks and settles with vacuuming
• Trim any sprouting tufts with scissors — never pull them
• Rotate every 6 months for even wear and consistent light exposure
• Use an anti-slip rug pad underneath to stop movement and extend the life of the pile
• Keep out of prolonged direct sunlight to prevent fading on the cobalt
• Air the rug outdoors in shade occasionally to refresh the wool
