Green Agate Side Table, Organic Edge

About the Agate

Green agate covers a wide range: moss and olive at the dark end, sage and pale jade at the light one, usually with a white or gray band cutting between them. The green sits in the silica itself, so it is even and deep rather than painted on.

The paler layers pass a little light, which gives the top the slightly wet look that polished green stone has. Darker bands stay flat and solid, and the contrast between the two is what carries the surface.

How It’s Made

The top keeps the natural shape of the slab, so its edge is a break line rather than a cut curve and every table has an outline of its own. The face is ground level and polished to an inch thick, then metal is electroformed onto the raw rim, grown onto the stone until it has real thickness and is permanently bonded, which strengthens the edge at the same time. The legs are electroformed to match. Gold warms the green, rose gold softens it, and silver keeps it cool and botanical.
